According to an article published on Radio Vatican’s website on November 11, 178,805 faithful left the Catholic Church in 2013.

These results, according to the Roman media, “confirm the Institution’s loss of trust and credibility” in Germany, where it is seen as “rich and powerful, which draws much criticism.”

Radio Vatican recalled that one of the most striking scandals was that of the sumptuous expenses of the bishop of Limburg, Bishop Franz-Peter Tebart-van Elst, suspended from his charge by Pope Francis in March 2014.
